Polish Haul Saturday #16

Hey girls! This is the most rush Polish Haul post I've ever done. I actually only got these like this afternoon and I'm putting them into a post already. I'm just so excited to share them with you all. And I've also been deprived of shopping for nail polish for way too long. One of the downsides to being in university; I really have no time to go to town (there's what we call the major shopping area in Singapore although it's not actually a town) to patronise my usual shopping areas :( But today, I managed to rush down after a group project (YES, school on a Saturday sighhh) because I needed to exchange something from H&M and I decided I would also treat myself to new nail polish because I haven't done that in awhile :) Last week's Polish Haul stuff was actually bought at least a few weeks earlier so I haven't had the time to admire pretty colours in awhile. I think I'm more in love with choosing new polish than actually the whole process of painting my nails haha! But I do love the end product. Pretty, freshly-painted nails can really brighten up my day!

So yeah, today I treated myself with 5 new shades :)

From left to right, Color Club Hot Like Lava, Orly Goth, OPI Suzi Sells Sushi By The Seashore, Color Club and Essie Using My Maiden Name.

Close-ups are more colour accurate.

Color Club Hot Like Lava. Okay, I was kinda judging the name since lava is red/orange in colour and this is pink. But whatever, the sparkly pink is gorgeous. I hope the sparkle appears on the nail too. I have high hopes for this polish.

Orly Goth. Again, judging the name. Goths don't sparkle.. I'd imagine they be all black? Hahaha. But anyway as you can see, I was in a pretty sparkly mood. 2 out of 5 polishes have obvious glitter bits.

OPI Suzi Sells Sushi By The Seashore. No complains here. I was too in love with the pearly pink. These pinks are absolutely perfect, I hope the formula turns out as lovely as it appears ♥♥♥ <-I have recently discovered how to make this symbol and I really love it haha. Please bear with me.

Color Club Warming Trend. This deep red is so royally lovely. Yeah, I think I just made up that phrase. It just looks so royal and elegant. It reminds me of OPI An Affair In Red Square but I think this one's a little deeper and darker.

Essie Using My Maiden Name. I was attracted to the lighter purple-ish shimmer in this one. I wasn't really able to capture it in the photo though. Maybe it'll turn out better in the swatches :)

Yay! I'm done. I really enjoyed doing this post! I love sharing new polish with you all. Do tell me in the comments if you have any of these shades and love/hate them or if you want to see a particular one swatched first!

Thanks for reading ♥

Essie Naughty Nautical Collection Swatches

Hey everyone! Finally have Essie Naughty Nautical 2013 collection to show you! From this collection, I got Sunday Funday, Naughty Nautical and The More The Merrier. I'm pretty sure you can tell which shade is obviously my favourite from the swatches below. I didn't mean to be biased but colours that I like more tend naturally tend to have more photos oops.

First up, we have Essie Sunday Funday! I cannot emphasize how much I love these bright red, coral shades. They just seem to brighten up my mood too!

Next, Essie Naughty Nautical. This is such a gorgeous turquoise. And look how pretty it sparkles in the sun! I'm so lucky that I remembered to whip out my camera phone while I was out and get these awesome shots!

Indoor lighting. Look at my poor middle finger, there's a paper cut :(

Last but not the least... okay, maybe the least because I wasn't a huge fan of this colour, Essie The More The Merrier. This one's a lime green that went on really streaky in my opinion. I've heard of bloggers that didn't have problems with this one so it could just be me, or my bottle, or the thickness of the coats I used? I'll definitely try again though because this colour is really quite lovely! It looked fine on my toes too! Summer colours~ Although, it's always summer here in Singapore haha!

So I'm guessing you guys can tell which one was my favourite shade? Yes! It's Naughty Nautical! I seem to be a fan of blue-green shades nowadays lol! Maybe it has something to do with my university course Environmental Studies... hahaha.

Anyway, which shade was your favourite in this collection? Or did you prefer one of the other three shades that I didn't get?

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Polish Haul Saturday #10

Hey ladies! It's Polish Haul Saturday #10!!!! I never thought I would ever reach this number haha. It's like a mini milestone, marks how much polish I have bought since I started this blog. Which reminds me, I've always wanted to make a list of all the polish I own, to keep track so that I can stop buying similar-looking colours. I'm always attracted to a certain shade of pink. Any recommended methods to catalogue my nail polish? I heard some bloggers use Microsoft Excel. I came across a blogger that used her phone contacts list to catalogue the polish along with a photo so that she could easily search up a polish in her collection with her phone. I thought that method was brilliant. And, I found the link!

Okay, on to my new polishes of the week!

From left to right we have Orly Pretty-Ugly, Essie Naughty Nautical, Essie The More The Merrier, Essie Sunday Funday and Orly Ridiculously Regal. The photo is overly exposed, I'm sorry. I took it this way and I forgot to play around with the lighting and colour settings. Check out the close-up bottle shots for more colour accurate photos.

I found that I could only avoid those glaring, over-exposed if I held the bottles up near my lamp. So that's what I ended up doing.

Orly Pretty-Ugly. A gorgeous blue with some lovely shimmer although formula is a little sheer. I tested it out on my toes. Couldn't resist :P

Essie Naughty Nautical. Can't wait to try this teal shade.

Essie The More The Merrier. My first lime green polish! I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Essie Sunday Funday. I can never resist these coral, reddish shades!

Orly Ridiculously Regal. This is from the Orly Flash Glam FX Fall 2012 collection. Such a pretty glitter. I can already imagine it looking gorgeous over black or white polish!

Thanks for stopping by! :) Tell me in the comments which polish you want to see swatched first!

Essie My Better Half Swatch

Hey! Quick post of a swatch that is actually a week old oops :P I'm off to Sentosa for a mini holiday with the family tomorrow so hopefully when I'm back, I'll be recharged and can get back to posting a bit more regularly. Thanks for putting up with me though! :)

Today, I have Essie My Better Half. I love this colour! It's so feminine, I love these kind of shades.

Polish Haul Saturday #8

Hey ladies! It's my favourite time of the week again! I think I'm addicted to buying nail polish! I just can't control myself when I see all the pretty colours and new collections. This week I managed to limit myself to two bottles, but as you will see later, they're from the quite-recently-released collections. I'm a sucker for new collections haha!

*Note: Do excuse my blurry photos. My camera was somehow unable to focus on the bottle.

On the left, we have Orly Spring 2013 Hope & Freedom Fest Collection's High on Hope and Essie 2013 Wedding Collection's My Better Half.

Close-up bottle photos which are unfortunately a little blurry.

What do you think of these colours? Would you have picked these from those collections?

Purple checkers

Hey ladies! Quick post. I used Essie Jamaica Me Crazy as a base and then did accent nails on my thumb and ring finger.

Ready to see my accent nails? I'm super in love with them!

I think it turned out quite gorgeously. The silver polish used is OPI DS Radiance. I wanted to use my new polishes and I'm glad I managed to incorporate the use of two of my new shades :) Tell me what you think of this mani in the comments! I'm thinking this design would look great as a full mani and not just as accents!

Polish Haul Saturday #6

Hi guys! Aren't you all excited to see this week's new polishes? I know that I'm excited to share them with you! This post is gonna be posted a day late but I'm typing this on Saturday so.... the title is still legit. Heh. Anyway, it's been a while since I've treated myself to so many new polishes at once so without further ado, let's get to those photos!

All the six new polishes. I'm sorry for the hazy looking photo but I had to play around with the photo settings because my lighting is non-adjustable and too bright so it blinds my camera and prevents it from capturing the colour of lighter shades. The first bottle of polish is actually a pastel green which is totally not visible. From left to right, we have Essie Navigate Her, Essie Jamaica Me Crazy, Orly Boho Bonnet, China Glaze Not In This Galaxy, China Glaze Exotic Encounters and OPI DS Radiance.

Next up we have the close-ups which are as colour accurate as I can get them.

First up is Essie Navigate Her. A pretty pastel green that I can't wait to use!

Next, we have Essie Jamaica Me Crazy. This one's a fuchsia shimmer that reminds me of jewels.

Orly Boho Bonnet. A blue grey creme.

China Glaze Not In This Galaxy. I've swatched this one already. In my previous post. Here's the link if you haven't seen it: http://nailsandcolour.blogspot.sg/2013/05/second-holo.html

China Glaze Exotic Encounters. I've been lusting after this polish since it came out last year but I never bought it. Well, I finally caved in last week. Can't wait to try this one out! It's a pretty teal.

Last but definitely not the least, OPI DS Radiance. This one was a spur-of-the-moment buy but hey, one can never have enough silver polish! And it's OPI too!

What do you think of my new buys? Do you own any of them?

How about some fishtail braid nail art?

Hello everyone! I'm so happy this week because I re-attempted the fishtail braid nail art and this time it was successful! Well, it looks quite successful to me :) I did it as an accent nail again so that even if it isn't too perfect, as a whole, the mani will still look quite pretty which I think turned out as I hoped.

Let's get right to the photos! I used a Faceshop light pastel blue polish as a base. I can't remember the code so... I'll dig out the bottle and edit this next time.

Yay! Look at the accent nail! I thought that was quite good, considering last week's failed attempt that I just painted over in the end haha. I know it's far from perfect like my lines could be neater and the braids smaller so that it looks more intricate but I hope you guys like my first attempt :) I'm gonna do more accent nails, I really love the way they look!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 6 - Violet

Hey ladies! I'm not sure exactly what colour violet is but I assume my new nail polish Essie Splash of Grenadine is similar! I just desperately wanted to try this polish on and I figured I might as well do a full mani for this shade :)

Finally, on to the full mani. I really really love this colour! It's such a gorgeous, soft shade. And the formula was perfect too. I used to dislike Essie because of their small brush but I have come to realise that it doesn't actually make painting that much harder. And Essie has wonderful and smooth formulas plus a wide range of colours. I am now going to start building up my Essie collection ^^

I added dots! Using OPI My Very First Knockwurst and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.
