It's Totally Not Worth It

Hello all! Today I'm going to show you a polish that I'm very upset and disappointed with. I totally regret buying it. On top of that, it was a splurge buy so I guess this should teach me to never again buy a polish without at least checking the swatches online first. The polish is OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It. This polish was a silver with pink shimmer that seems to only be visible in the bottle. I could barely see them on my nails. Also, the polish was extremely sheer and even with three coats used, I could still see visible nail line. I am incredibly displeased :(

And the worst part of it all, visible brush strokes. Check out my thumb in the first photo. Argh, this polish is like my hugest regret ever. It seriously looked so pretty in the bottle too. I guess I'm probably going to end up using this polish as a base for layering glitters then.

Do you own any polishes that you regret buying? What do you end up doing with them? Do comment and let me know!

Hands Off My Kielbasa!

Hello ladies! Today I have a very gorgeous polish to show you from the OPI Euro Centrale collection. This colour caught my eye because it's such a feminine and elegant shade and I'm a sucker for colours like that. So today's polish is Hands Off My Kielbasa! Hands Off My Kielbasa! is a light pinkish, rosy shade with bronze shimmer and the finish looks rather frosty. I love how soft this polish is! At first, I thought this colour was similar if not the same as A Butterfly Moment from the Mariah Carey collection but now that I own both the polishes, I can see they are quite different! A Butterfly Moment is more nude and a lighter pink than Hands Off My Kielbasa! If I remember, I will try to do a comparison swatch.

Let's move on to the photos :)

In daylight with indirect sunlight:

In artificial light:

The bronze shimmer isn't really visible in my photos. I think I should invest in a better camera and not rely on my phone camera. My photos aren't doing the nail polish enough justice :( Anybody have recommendations of a cheap but good quality camera?

I'm sooooo in love with this polish!!! What do you think of this polish? Are you as in love with this as I am or do you fancy other colours in the OPI Euro Centrale collection?

Polish Haul Saturday #3

Hello ladies!! This week's haul is very exciting because I got a whole lot of polishes this week! The OPI Euro Centrale collection was also finally available for me to buy so imagine my joy. I've been waiting for that collection since swatches first appeared which would be about a month ago! I bought 9 bottles of polish this week. Yes, 9! Yikes, imagine how much I spent. So I've decided to go on (at least) a two-week hiatus from spending money on nail polish which means no Polish Haul Saturday for the next two weeks. This sounds like a punishment, doesn't it? I'm trying to think of regulating my spending since I'm currently working to save up some money to go on a holiday with my friends before I go to university.

Okay, on to the polish. I actually went down twice last week so that's why there is so many new bottles. From Monday's haul, I got (from left to right) OPI Over The Taupe, OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It and INM Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat in Gold.

OPI Over The Taupe is a deep brown polish. It's the first brown polish in my collection!

OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It is a silver with pink shimmer/glitter. This one looks pretty, I hope the shimmer is visible!

INM Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat in Gold.

And from Friday's haul, I got the colours in the OPI Euro Centrale collection that I was lusting after! From left to right, Polka.com, You're Such A Budapest, Suzi's Hungary Again!, OPI... Eurso Euro, Hands Off My Kielbasa! and Can't Find My Czechbook.

The individual bottle shots:

I tried to get them as colour accurate as possible that's why some photos are brighter while others are dimmer. I'm super in love with the colours that I got from the new OPI collection!

Have you gotten any polishes from the Euro Centrale collection? Which colours are you in love with and consider must-haves?

Holographic Naughty

Hello! Today, I have Revlon Naughty to show you. I got this polish about two weeks ago and finally painted my nails with it! Toenails aren't counted because I can't photograph them and post it here and I'm sure you don't want to see my toes anyway hehe.

Naughty is a dusty purple with violet shimmer. But the shimmer is barely visible and really hard to capture. I think if you enlarge some of my photos, you can see the violet shimmer on like one or two of the nails.

Application for Naughty was alright, a bit thick but that meant even coverage in two coats so that was fine. Then, I decided to try my new gold holographic top coat which I bought on Monday which you will get to see in tomorrow's nail polish haul! Tomorrow's haul is very exciting! Lots and lots of new polishes :)

This is one coat of holo top coat and I guess you can actually put a few more coats if you really want it to sparkle!

What do you think of this polish and the holographic top coat? Are you a fan of holo top coats or do you prefer holo polishes?

Towel Boy Toy

Hello ladies! I know it's been way too long since I last posted, I intended to post yesterday but was feeling feverish and I had a cold so I forced myself to sleep earlier since I was planning to work today. Anyway, today I have China Glaze Towel Boy Toy to show you. For this post, I did something different. I did a build-up post. Like I took photos after every coat because I wanted to show how sheer the polish was. If you don't remember what my bottle photo looked like, it's this:

Doesn't it look like it would be a really thick polish with good consistency?

Well, it isn't. :(

Let's get to the photos! WARNING. These photos are all without clean up... it somehow slipped my mind until I decided to start on this post :/

One coat of Towel Boy Toy:

Look at how sheer it is! My second finger shows how sheer a thinner coat is. You can totally still see my nail!

Two coats of Towel Boy Toy:

Nails look a bit more covered but there's still visible nail line especially the second and last nail.

Three coats of Towel Boy Toy:

I think three coats is enough for this polish to have a decent and even coverage. This blue is gorgeous and it actually dries a little matte. This colour is perfect for summer pedicures although technically in Singapore, it's always summer ;) Guess it's a colour I can wear on my toes all year round huh?

What do you think of this colour? Love it or hate it? Let me know in the comments :)

Broke broke broken

ARGH look at my nail :(

I broke it :'( at work today. I don't even know how it happened.

And that's my swatching hand oh no. Thank goodness I swatched a polish yesterday so I'll get that post up by tomorrow hopefully and let's hope that by Thursday it looks decent enough to paint and photograph! The way it broke is also so tough to file down.. it's impossible to file all the way too!

Late Valentines' Day Manicure

I do apologize for posting this manicure so late, two days late in fact :/ I was working from Wednesday to Friday and was just really tired at night to finish everything and do my posts. But better late than never right? :)

Okay, so on to my V-Day Mani! For this, I started with Revlon Creme Brulee and used 3-4 coats.

The colour was very pretty, it's like a pale gold, and it made me think of China Glaze Fast Track although I think that polish has way more glitter and shimmer than this one. Application was pretty tough. With 2 coats it looked fine but a bit uneven so I used another coat and suddenly little air bubbles started surfacing and it somehow became more uneven.. I guess maybe I should have given more time for the polish to dry properly.

Next, I used tip guides and OPI An Affair In Red Square to create something that I just googled and realised, is kinda like a chevron manicure.

I think this looks really cute! I know it is a little messy and I realised I should've properly pressed down the tip guide so that the red polish doesn't get under the tip guide which defeats its purpose. But I'm happy that at least my thumb, ring finger and pinky look decent :)

I actually wanted to do something like hearts but my nail art is terrible and I didn't even know how to begin that. Surprisingly, this mani reminds me of Iron Man! Must be the colour combination hehe.

Thanks for stopping by!

Liebster Award

The Liebster Award is given to blogs and bloggers that have fewer than 200 followers and are deserving of recognition and encouragement. There are four rules that I must complete in order to finalize my Liebster Award:
1. Each person must post 11 things about them.
2. Then, you must answer the questions that the nominator sent you, plus create 11 new questions for bloggers you nominate.
3. Choose 11 people and link their blogs in yours.
4. Go to their page and let them know you nominated them!

11 random things about me:
1. I don't only have a nail polish obsession! I'm also obsessed with shoes, rings, earrings and clothes. Shopaholic oops :)
2. I don't have a favourite colour, I love almost all colours equally.
3. Bubble tea is my favourite treat to end any day. SUGAR OVERLOAD <3 Speaking of which, I drank one today.
4. Bridge is my favourite card game. I even play it online with random strangers when I have the urge to play but no one to play it with.

8. I have never sprained or broken any part of my body - perks of not being in a sports CCA(co-curricular activity which is basically an after-school activity)
9. My favourite sport is football! I love watching and playing football or what Americans call soccer.
10. I get super easily affected by caffeine and have to avoid drinking anything caffeinated after 5 or else I'm most probably not gonna be able to sleep properly at night.
11. I'm quiet until I get to know someone, and then I will talk to them so much until they'll probably get sick of me :P

Rachael from rachosnaillove.blogspot.com's questions:
1. What was the very first polish you posted on your blog? This one's easy because my blog is so new. My first polish was Revlon Dreamer!
2. What is the most you would pay for a nail polish? Well, so far it's about 12.90 SGD which is about US$10.40 but recently I've been tempted to splurge 20 SGD on OPI Goldeneye because I can't seem to find it anywhere as it's always out of stock!
3. What is your favourite polish? OMG how do I just pick one?! I'm loving OPI Not So Bora-bora-ing Pink and OPI Thanks A Windmillion.
4. What is your favourite type of Nail Art? French tips!! Like colourful french manicures :)

10. What was your favourite childhood cartoon? Totally Spies! Omg three female spies, I admired them!
11. Name one thing about yourself that not a lot of people know. I can be rather bitchy.... oops ;)

French Mani for work

Hello ladies! I know it's Valentines Day and I should have my Valentines Day mani up here but I'm currently still working on that so today's simple mani is to buy time :) Hehe. I'm also working on a post on the Liebster Award which I got nominated for! Thanks Rachael for that!

So basically a French mani or some neutral-ish shade is what I'm allowed to have on my nails at work so I decided to do a French mani and try out the new French tips guide I got for a dollar. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Maybelline Forever Strong French Manicure and sealed with top coat.

In artificial light:

In daylight:

There's this awkward hole in the white part of my French tips on my fourth finger. I don't even know how that happened lol but I'm happy with the way this mani turned out. I've actually never worn a simple French in my life and I love how this looked on me :) I will definitely be wearing this out more often!

What do you think about French manis? Do you wear them often? :)

My Not-Very-Chinese Chinese New Year Nails

Hello ladies! Pardon the long title, I felt like I had to explain in my title haha. Anyway! Today is the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. For all my non-Chinese friends, Chinese New Year is basically a holiday (I don't know if some see it as a holiday though) where we visit our relatives' house to collect red packets with money. There's also the annual reunion dinner on the Eve. However, I think only children truly benefit from Chinese New Year because we, yes I'm still a kid hehe, receive money from the married adults. Adults are usually the ones who do the giving although I have heard that some kids actually give back money to their parents but that isn't a tradition in my family so my brother and I haven't really been doing that. Perhaps when we're really working then we'll start that.

On to my Chinese New Year (CNY) nails this year! This manicure was actually created over a few days haha because the idea just built up over a couple of days. So on the Eve of CNY, my nails were just plain pink. This was what I swatched in yesterday's post. Nature Republic APK204. Notice my nails are shorter! I cut them for the week because they were getting too long. I love this pink!

Next, I added OPI Piroutte My Whistle.

And last night, I suddenly had this urge to add scallop french tips to my manicure. So ta-da! I used China Glaze Liquid Leather and a dotting tool.

This idea has been in my head for quite some time. I was inspired by this mani:

The original post is here: http://blognailedit.blogspot.sg/2012/05/teal-binge.html

What do you think about my re-creation? I love this a lot! I think it'll look great with different colours too :)

Swatches of Nature Republic polish

Hey girls! So today, I have some swatches of the Nature Republic polishes that my friend got for me about 2-3 weeks ago! Nature Republic doesn't actually name their polishes so the polishes just have codes - boring *yawns*

The first one I have is APK204. This one was a beautiful bright pink, very wearable for any occasion. I didn't realise this needed some cleanup around the nails till I photographed them so it's a little bit messy :/

Overall this polish has a good formula! I only used two coats and the coats were a bit thick but the brush was able to spread the polish out so it worked out well eventually. It was also quite shiny. These photos do not have any topcoat.

On to the next one, this one is called APP401 and it's a light pink that looks a bit white under certain lightings. This is the kind of polish that would look good as a base for glitter!

This one was a bit sheer and you can see my nail line in the second photo but I only used two coats so I'm pretty sure it will be totally covered in three. I was a bit unhappy with this though because I could see brush strokes which I think more coats wouldn't be able to solve either. That's why I think this polish is better worn layered with glitter to cover the ugly brush strokes.

What do you think of these two polishes? Any polishes you like but may not use much because of visible brush strokes?
